Standing in the Presence of Majesty

Day 2 of Lent, Psalm 8:

What do you do when you see a brilliant sunset? You stop.  God’s enormous canvas is exposed, with each minute transforming the sky– as if the blazing colors of heaven are eager to explode and paint the sky!

From the mouths of infants and nursing babes you have displayed strength. Psalm 8:2

We see majesty, not just in the spectacular, but in the normal everyday things– even as we hear the sigh or cry of a little baby.  His workmanship– each baby, each person,  is unique and a valued workmanship of the Creator’s design.

When I consider Your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained… Psalm 8:3

When you have stood under a clear, starry night, how do you feel? It is not difficult to stand in awe and wonder, gazing at the stars.  When in the mountains, I feel speechless as I encounter billions of stars and meteors that were not visible from home on my back porch.  It feels as if theses glistening diamonds were hiding behind a veil, and now decided to appear and show off majesty.

What is man that You take thought of him. Psalm 8:4

When I have my eyes open to the displays of His majesty– I plainly see how BIG He is.  I also see how small I am. Yet, He takes thought of me.

You make him to rule over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field. Psalm 8:6.7

Can you almost get a a taste of His majesty through the many wonders? Can you hear it sing, rejoice and proclaim that He is Supreme?  He is beautiful and full of wonder.

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! Psalm 8:9

Now, I can almost smell the sweet aroma of His majesty– it is so near.

God is Majestic. To dwell on Him changes me.
