A Key Ingredient

For a flower to unfold and open up its bloom, it needs the right conditions.  An important and key ingredient is temperature.  Somehow, the warmth from the sun triggers a flower to bloom. When a flower blooms, we see it at its best and in its fullness.

There is an ingredient (like the sun for the flower), I have noticed, that makes all the difference for me.  It is the nearness of God. No matter the circumstances, when I experience the nearness of God:

I see Him more clearly

I hear that He loves me

I taste His goodness

I have hands for helping others

I sense that I can trust Him with today and the future

I know Him more deeply.

I hope in the days ahead, in-between the lines, in the midst of the jumble of letters and words, and among the varied posts, you experience nearness and closeness. This is good. The psalmist said, “the nearness of God is my good.” (Psalm 73:28)  His nearness is a gift to me. It is just something I receive, just like a flowers receives the warmth from the sun. My hope is that this key ingredient will cause many flowers to bloom.
